In 1971, Arthur and Annie Pope blew up a napalm lab to protest the war... Ever since then they have been on the run from the FBI. They chose their lives. Now their son must choose his.

Seventeen years after blowing up a napalm lab and blinding a janitor, we find Arthur and Annie Pope on the run from the FBI with their two sons. They have to make some important decisions for their son's future, when they find he has the talent to do music at a prostigious music school.

This movie is one of my favourites. It's about a family on the run from the FBI, only there are no car chases, no action. River's performance in this earned him a Best Actor nomination at the Academy Awards in 1988, he didn't win even though he deserved it. It also earned Naomi Foner (mother of Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal) a nomination for best screenplay.

For River Phoenix, R.I.P brother.
